The books I'm grateful for

Beth Revis is having a huge giveaway on her site with a lot of great books, so head over there and take part in it! :) The aim of the contest is to say 'thank you' for the books that you're greatful for. And now I'm saying thanks :)

If you had asked me several years ago how many books had I read, my answer would have been simple: not even one. I hated books and reading just because there wasn't any book that got my attention and I hated that if I hadn't read the compulsory books, I would have got bad marks. Just because reading...

But then came Stephenie Meyer with her Twilight Saga, and I read my first book ever! I've always been interested in paranormal things, especially vampires, so I asked for it for my birthday. I remember how my family was saying that I wouldn't read that book even in a year and then how surprised they were when I came out of my room next day saying I finished the book xD So I'm really grateful for Twilight and Stephenie Meyer, even tough I don't like it now :P

But the book that I'm really-really grateful is Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost. I found it accidentally and I'm so happy I did. It wasn't the first adult paranormal romance/urban fantasy that I'd read, but it was certainly the first one that I couldn't get enough of. Jeaniene Frost is my favorite author ever! :) I'm really grateful for her! :)

Well, I could make a huge list of which books I'm really grateful for, but then you would have to spend all night here, reading my post :) So instead of it, I recommend you to head over to Beth Revis' site and write your own post about the books you're grateful for! :)

Alternative ending for Halfway to the Grave

Alternative Ending is a mini challenge hosted by The Book Blog Experience (as part of the Princess Bookie's Contest Craze). You have to write an alternative ending for one of your favorite books and put the link of your blog post in a comment, and you're entered in the $10 Amazin gift card giveaway! How awesome, isn't it? :)

Head over here for the rules and the contest!

So my all-time favorite book is Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost, so I chose it, but I have to admin, it was very hard to write an alternative ending for it, because it's my favorite, it's perfect the way it is, and I couldn't think about any ending that would be better than the original one. But finally, I managed to write something, but it's certainly not better than Jeaniene Frost's ending :) So here it is:
And yet when I finally drifted off, in that barely conscious state where logic was absent and dreams encroached, little images of Bones and me were flashing in front of my eyes. In one of these images, he was standing behind me. He was pulling my hair, my head was stretched back, and I could feel his breath on my exposed throat.

"If you run from me, I'll chase you. And I'll find you..." he whispered lightly, then the vampire of my imagination bit into my pale skin...

MIni challenge: top 5 release in 2011

This is an other mini challenge by Cindy (as part of the Princess Bookie's Contest Craze). All you have to do is naming the top 5 books that you read in 2011. And of course, you should be as creative as you can :) Here is my list:

5. Graceling
by Kristin Cashore
When I finished this book, I held it in my hands for several minutes and I still couldn't believe how it ended. I was so surprised - but with its characters and incredibly great story, Graceling became one of my all-time favorite books!

4. Clockwork Angel
by Cassandra Clare
CA was released back in 2010, but I read it this year... and I couldn't get my hands off of it. The story is set before the timeline of The Mortal Instruments, so the characters are totally different, but just as adorable! Most reader loves Will, but I'm Team Jem and I can't wait to see what will happen to him and Tessa in Clockwork Prince! :)

3. Angelfire
by Courtney Allison Moulton
Before I read it, I've read a lot of great reviews about the book and I wasn't disappointed at all. The story is really nice and I can't wait to read more about Ellie and Will!

2. You Belong to Me
by Karen Rose
Besides paranormal romances and urban fantasies, I love reading romantic suspences, and my favorite author from this genre is absolutely Karen Rose. Her series if full of action and the characters are well-draw. Her latest book, You Belong to Me was released in this sumer :)

1. One Grave at a Time
by Jeaniene Frost
Okay, I know, I know - I'm a little too obsessed with Jeaniene Frost's book, but I can't help myself. I love her books, and One Grave at a Time was the best book of the year for me :)

Anna Dressed in Blood cover contest

Patricia of Patricia's Particularity is organizing a cover contest as part of the Halloween Bash - I couldn't resist the temptation to take part in this cover contest as well. I love re-creating covers and posters so much (you must be aware of it by now, lol)! :) There are four book, the cover of which you can re-create:

1. Anna Dressed in Blood
2. If I die
3. Dust & Decay
4. Blood Song

You can create as many covers as you want :) The contest is international and there will be four rounds (see the details on Patricia's blog). I will probably make a cover for all of the four books, and my first entry is Anna Dressed in Blood:

Mini challenge: Collections

Collections is a new mini challenge in the Princess Bookie's Contest Craze, and I'm taking part of it because I LOVED collecting things when I was younger. My sister and I have a huge box filled with different napkins - and there weren't two alike :) Unfortunately, my sister has that box now, so I can't make a picture of it, but...

I used to collect coins as well. I've always wanted to travel and as a 8-year-old girl, it was really hard for me to imagine that in other countries people pay with different cash :) So when one of my friends or relatives went abroad, I asked her or him to bring me some coins :] And of course, I collected old coins - my oldest coin is more than 300 years old :)

And I started to collect swags in February. It may sound like complaining, but there are much less international giveaways, so it's hard to get hold of the great swags :) I managed to collect some swag though and I LOVE them and can't get enough of them :)

PS. I took this picture in the middle of the summer so I have more swag now :)

So this was my entry for the mini challenge. Cindy from Princess Bookie is giving away a mystery prize pack of books to a lucky participant - enter here!

New book on my "dying to read it" list

When I saw the cover of To Walk the Night by E.S. Moore, my first thought was that it has an Underwold-feeling. The movies Underworld (with Kate Beckinsale) are my favorites :) As I see, this book will be E.S. Moore's first book and it'll be released in January, 2012. I can't wait! :)

To Walk the Night by E.S. Moore
Even a vampire has to face her inner demons…
Kat Redding is the very thing she hunts: a vampire, thirsting for blood, capable of killing any creature unlucky enough to get in her path. The difference is, Kat kills her own kind in order to protect human Purebloods. She’s good at what she does. Good enough to earn the nickname Lady Death—and the enmity of every bloodthirsty being around. But now a vampire Count is intent on merging his House with a werewolf cult to create a force of terrifying power.

Kat can’t allow that to happen. Even if it means taking on a den of weres and a vampire more ruthless than any she’s encountered before. She has the weapons, the skill, and a few allies. But that may not be enough to eliminate the Count before her own dark nature rises to the surface—and costs her whatever is left of her humanity…

More information can be found on the author's page, and you can already pre-order the book from Amazon!

Recreate a cover contest

Oh, yeah, it's an other cover contest, in which I'm taking part :) The contest is organised by the Princess Bookie's Contest Craze and the prize's are awesome (unfortunately, it's for US only)! The best cover will be chosen by the readers by voting!

Mini challenge: Cover re-design

One of my favorite free-time activities is re-designing book covers and movie posters. I'm not professional designer at all, but I like doing it and my friends keep saying that they like my works :) And now I'm participating in Ashley Suzanne's cover re-design mini challenge (it's part of the Princess Bookie's Contest Craze). Here is my entry:

My cover for The Iron Daughter:

Okay, now about the contest...

Mini challenge: Scariest word

The Non Reluctant Reader is giving away a $10 gift card to the Book Depository on his mini challenge, which is part of the Princess Bookie's Craze Contest. Here are the rules:
  • Grab a book you're currently reading (and hopefully loving)
  • Go to the 13th Chapter (if the book doesn't have 13 chapters, go to the closest to it)
  • Scan the chapter for the scariest word
  • Using Google/Yahoo images randomly pick on picture that comes up when you search the word
  • Write a blog post that has the book's cover, title, your word and your image
  • Ends: September 2!

I'm still reading Etched in Bone by Adrian Phoenix. The title of the thirteenth chapter is Dark and Dazzling, and the scariest word for me is HELL :) Okay, there might be more scarier word in a book full of with vampires and angels, but I like hell :)

Mini challenge: One True Pairing

My Cute Bookself is having a mini challenge as part of the Princess Bookie's Contest Craze, in which you can win a YA book of your choice from The Book Depository! :)

To enter:
  • You should create a blog post with your OTP (One True Pairing), meaning your favorite couple from young adult books. Explain why they’re your favorite YA couple. If you don't have a blog, you can share your answer in the comments section.
  • To make it fun, add pictures of who you think can portray the characters.
  • Add the link to your blog or comment to the linky tool at the bottom of this post to participate.
  • Ends on September 28!
My favorite YA couple is Jace and Clary from The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. There are sparkles between them from the very beginning and it only intensifies when they try to resist their attraction because they think they're siblings. It's a really cruel twist in their relationship, but it's what makes their story so amazing and great. I can't wait to read more about them in City of Lost Souls (it will be released in 2012)!

There will be a movie based on City of Bones: Lily Collins will play Clary and Jamie Campbell Bower will be Jace...

Mini challenge: Lucky number 7

Lucky number 7 is a mini challenge organised on The Elliott Review (part of the Princess Bookie's Contest Craze). It's worth taking part in it, because you can win $10 in books on The Book Depository! :) Here are the rules:
  • Open a book you are currently reading.
  • Turn to page 7.
  • Count to the 7th word.
  • If the word is an article (a, an, the, etc), go to the next real word.
  • Type the word into a Google Images search, and select a picture that you can stand.
  • Create a blog post with the following information: picture of book, book title and author, 7th word on 7th page, randomly selected picture
  • Link to this post and Princess Bookie's Contest Craze.
  • Add a link to your post in the linky form at the bottom of post to enter into to win.

My entry: I'm currently reading Etched in Bone by Adrian Phoenix (it's awsome, by the way :P), and the 7th word on the 7th page is: QUIET.

Mini challenge: top five 2012 release

Hey guys! I know I haven't write for a while, but I've been totally engrossed and I'm still waiting for the results of my languge exam, but I hope I can return soon :)

So... Princess Bookie is having a mini challenge on her site, in which the participants have to write a blog post about their top 5 books that will be released in 2012. It's important to be creative and if you take part, you can win a Mystery Prize Pack of books - awsome! :) So don't miss it, guys! So here is my list:

5. Darker After Midnight by Lara Adrian
The Midnight Breed series was one of the first paranormal romance series that I've ever read and I fell in love with Gabrielle and Lucan's story and world immediatelly. I don't remember where, but I heard that Darker After Midnight will be the last book in this series, but this info must have been fake because according to the official site of the author, there'll be two other installement :)

RELEASE DATE: summer, 2012
In the dark of night, a blood war escalates within the hidden world of the Breed. After existing in secret for many long centuries, maintaining a fragile peace with the humans who walk beside them unaware, a single act of retaliation has put the entire vampire nation at risk of discovery. It falls to the Order--a cadre of Breed warriors pledged to protect their own and humankind alike--to stop Dragos, the power-mad vampire at the center of the conflict, before his push for domination can explode into catastrophe.

At the center of the Order’s quest is Sterling Chase, once a morally rigid enforcer of Breed law, now a warrior fallen from grace, whose biggest battle is the one he wages against his own savage nature. With addiction beckoning him toward eternal darkness, Chase’s path to redemption has never seemed more out of reach--until he finds himself drawn to a beautiful young woman who may be something much more than she seems . . .

4. Lover Reborn by J.R.Ward
I'm sure everybody who reads paranormal romances knows who is J.R.Ward. Her Balck Dagger Brotherhood series has a huge reputation, and it's translated even in Hungarian (which means a lot, I think, because a very few paranormal book gets to be available in my country!). Lover Reborn is Thor's story and I can't wait to read it!

RELEASE DATE: March 27, 2012
Unfortunaletty, there's only a small description for the book, but it's better than nothing!
In the darkest corners of the night in Caldwell, New York, a conflict like no other rages. The city is home to a band of brothers born to defend their race: the warrior vampires of the BLACK DAGGER BROTHERHOOD. Now it is time to hear Thor's story...

3. Lothaire by Kresley Cole
Woohoo, Lothaire's story is coming soon! I'm so curious about him and about the woman he'll fall for :) The book will be the twelveth installement in Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark series!

RELEASE DATE: January 10, 2012
Unfortunatelly, there hasn't been any description or excerpt yet... But the cover is amazing, even though it's not like the other covers of the previous books :)

2. Silver-Tongued Devil by Jaye Wells
This book will be the fourth book in the Sabina Kane series, which is one of my favourites. In the last book, Sabina and Adam finally got together, and I can't wait to get to know what'll happen to them now. I'm sure Silver-Tongued Devil will be as exciting and action-packed as the previous books were :)

RELEASE DATE: January 1, 2012
Now that the threat of war has passed, Sabina Kane is ready to focus on the future. Her relationship with Adam Lazarus is getting stronger and she’s helping her sister, Maisie, overcome the trauma of her captivity in New Orleans. But as much as Sabina wants to feel hopeful about the future, part of her doesn’t trust that peace is possible.

Sabina pitches in to find the killer, but her investigation soon leads her down dark paths that have her questioning everyone she thought shecould trust. And the closer she gets to the killer, the more Sabina begins to suspect this is one foe she may not be able to kill.

1. Once Burned by Jeanine Frost
This is on my "I'll die if I don't get my hands on it soon" list :) Jeaniene Frost is my all-time favourite author and Once Burned will be the first book in her new Night Prince series... and the main characters are Leila and Vlad... My God, I love that Romanian!

RELEASE DATE: March 27, 2012

My three entries to a cover contest

I've just entered in a cover-creating contest on a Hungarian blog with these covers. The author, Hédi is publishing her first book soon and is doing this competition to get a cover for it. Fénylő Lelkek (Shining Souls) may be out with the winner cover and the winner will get a signed copy of it :] I know, I know, these three covers are totally - I mean, TOTALLY - different, but I haven't got a chance to read the whole story yet, so I wanted to make sure one of the covers will fit to the plot :)

But what I've read, I loved it. I can imagine how exciting she was about her first book :] I just wanted to share you my covers and I hope you'll like them!

Jeaniene Frost's Vlad & Leila book has a title!

Okay, officially it's my first book post and I'm so glad it's about Jeaniene Frost and her new book series. She's my favourite author ever and I can't wait to get my hands on Vlad and Leila's own book, which now has a title! We've known that the title of the their series will be Night Prince (because of Vlad, of course).

Once Burned

Yep, that's it. I don't know about you, but I LOVE it! And I was wondering whether this unknown Leila will be a "simple" mortal or a powerful immortal, but no... She will be a mortal with dark powers! Oh my God, I can't wait!

And now I'm counting the days until March 29, 2012... :)

Hi, guys!

This is my first post on the blog :) Reviews and posts are coming soon. I hope you will enjoy them :)
